Wedding Photography in Dublin

I do wedding photography all over Ireland, but I particularly love doing it in Dublin. There are many great spots all around the city that couples want to be the setting for their outdoor wedding images.

When planning their wedding photography, couples sometimes focus only on the wedding portraits – images of themselves and the guests. But the best wedding photographer also gives a flavor of the background and the setting.

If your wedding takes place in Dublin, you’ll probably want your wedding photos to reflect the location. The location, after all, is an essential part of the overall picture! A wedding is a unique event; it can’t be repeated. To capture it vividly in great images, you need to include everything that contributes to the special atmosphere and mood.

Imagine looking at wedding pictures and there’s nothing to indicate where the wedding took place. (Years in the future, as you look through your wedding album, you’ll be asking your beloved: “Eh, do you remember where we got married? Was it in Dublin or Limerick?”)

That’s why I always work to get not just great shots of the bride and groom and the guests, but also to have great backgrounds – to get the flavor of the place.

Dublin wedding photo magic

Like most cities, Dublin has its own particular magic. It has many fine buildings, streetscapes and little magic corners, so it’s not hard to find the perfect backdrop for wedding images.

I like to combine creative flair with reportage wedding photography or documentary photography – essentially, telling the story of an event in as rich a way as possible. And the location of a wedding is part of that story.

Getting a beautiful shot of the bride’s veil blowing gently in the breeze is good, but it’s even better to get a glimpse of the blue waves of Dublin Bay in the background (blue, because I always make sure that the sun is shining, even in Dublin!).

Good locations help to make for good pictures. But don’t worry if you’re planning your wedding in a part of Dublin where there are no obviously great backdrops. In just about any setting, the practised eye can find good backgrounds: colourful flowers or shrubs, fine stonework, a perfect combination of leaves and white clouds …

On the other hand, if you’ve got your eye on special Dublin settings for your wedding photos, just let me know so I can take a closer look and get ready for your big day …
