Winter Dromoland Castle Wedding

Winter Dromoland Castle Wedding

A Dromoland Castle wedding in winter is something truly special. The atmosphere, the light, the warmth of the interiors, and the castle’s calm elegance make it one of the best venues in Ireland for a winter celebration.

Eesha and Mark’s wedding day was the perfect example of how amazing a winter castle wedding can be—especially when it includes two ceremonies in one day, two outfit changes, and two full photo sessions, all planned beautifully from morning to afternoon.

As a wedding photographer and wedding videographer offering a combined photo and video package, this was one of those days where experience, timing and knowing the venue inside out made all the difference.

Why Dromoland Castle Is Perfect for a Winter Wedding

Winter weddings at Dromoland Castle feel intimate, elegant and relaxed. You never feel under pressure from the weather, and the castle itself becomes part of the experience rather than just a backdrop.

From the very start of the day:

  • The food was outstanding (as always at Dromoland)
  • The staff were incredibly friendly, calm and helpful
  • Everything ran smoothly, even with a complex timeline

For photography and video, Dromoland Castle offers endless options—grand staircases, beautiful window light, historic rooms and cosy corners that work perfectly in winter.

An Early Start: A Full Wedding Day Beginning at 8 am

This wedding day started early at 8 am, and there was a lovely buzz in the castle from the moment preparations began. With two ceremonies planned, the day needed to run on time—but without feeling rushed.

Good planning meant Eesha and Mark could enjoy every part of their day without stress.

First Wedding Ceremony – 10 am

The first ceremony at 10am was the legal Irish wedding ceremony, allowing Eesha and Mark to officially get married under Irish law. It was elegant, emotional and beautifully simple—focused entirely on the couple and their commitment to each other.

This ceremony set the tone for the day:

  • Calm
  • Meaningful
  • Very personal

From a photo and video point of view, it was ideal—natural moments, real emotions, and plenty of time afterwards for portraits without guests waiting around.

First Photoshoot – White Wedding Dress

After the legal ceremony, we moved straight into the first photoshoot, with Eesha wearing a stunning white wedding dress. Winter light inside Dromoland Castle is soft and flattering, making it perfect for timeless, classic portraits.

Because everything was planned properly, this photoshoot felt relaxed rather than rushed. We were able to use multiple areas of the castle while keeping things efficient and stress-free.

Drinks Reception & Outfit Change

After the first photoshoot, guests enjoyed a drinks reception, while Eesha and Mark took time to change into their traditional Hindu wedding outfits.

This break in the day is something I always recommend when couples are planning more than one ceremony. It allows:

  • Everyone, reset and relax
  • The couple needs to fully enjoy each part of the day
  • Photography and video to stay fresh and creative

Second Ceremony – 2 pm

Hindu Wedding Ceremony (Arya Samaj Vedic Tradition)

The second ceremony at 2 pm was the Hindu wedding ceremony, following the Arya Samaj Vedic tradition. The atmosphere completely changed—from elegant and classic to colourful, spiritual and symbolic.

About the Hindu Ceremony
An Arya Samaj Vedic wedding (Ārya Samāj Vaidik Vivāh) is a Hindu marriage based on the teachings of the Vedas. Started by Swami Dayanand, it avoids idol worship, astrology, dowry and caste rules.

The ceremony is conducted in Sanskrit with explanations in English and focuses on meaning rather than spectacle. The sacred fire (yajña) is the main witness. Marriage is viewed as a moral and spiritual partnership rather than a bond enforced by social custom, with a strong emphasis on equality between spouses.

The bride and groom make spoken vows about loyalty, cooperation and shared responsibility. Key moments include purification (Āchaman & Śuddhi), offerings into the fire, hand-taking (Pāṇigrahaṇa), walking around the fire (Agni Pradakṣiṇā), and blessings—each highlighting marriage as an equal partnership.

It was deeply meaningful and visually stunning, and Dromoland Castle provided a beautiful, respectful setting for the ceremony.

Second Photoshoot – Traditional Hindu Wedding Outfits

After the Hindu ceremony, we moved into the second full photoshoot, this time capturing Eesha and Mark in their traditional outfits. The colours, details and emotion made this part of the day truly special.

Despite already having:

  • One ceremony completed
  • First look – done :)
  • One photoshoot done earlier

…the energy was still high, and the couple were fully present and enjoying every moment.

Two Ceremonies, Two Photoshoots – One Perfectly Planned Day

What made this day work so well was planning and experience. Even with:

  • An early 8 am start
  • A legal ceremony
  • First look
  • A Hindu ceremony
  • Two outfit changes
  • Two full photoshoots

…the day never felt rushed or chaotic.

This is where working with suppliers who understand timelines—especially for multi-ceremony weddings—makes a huge difference.

Photo & Video Combined Packages – Can They Save Money?

Many couples ask about combined photo and video packages, and yes, booking one company for both photography and videography can sometimes be a money-saving option.

However, I always say this very honestly:

👉 Watch full galleries and full wedding films before booking. Not just highlights.

I’ve personally seen couples book one person for both, only to realise later that:

  • The photos weren’t as strong as they could be, or
  • The video felt rushed or incomplete, or
  • Neither truly reached their full potential

You genuinely get what you pay for.
