Waterford Castle Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
Hannah and Keith’s super relaxed wedding
As you will know by now, I love to share some of the wedding venues that I have had the pleasure of working at as a professional wedding photographer. This month I got to spend a day at Waterford Castle Resort and it was absolutely amazing! The bride and groom, Hannah and Keith, choose this unique venue for their wedding day and it did not disappointment
Set on its own private 310-acre island, this Castle boasts some serious WOW factor! It is a short spin away from Waterford City, located on the River Suir. The Castle becomes yours exclusively for your wedding day, with 19 rooms and suites available in the Castle for you and your wedding guests. If you are dreaming of old-world charm and sophistication on your wedding day then the Waterford Castle Resort is well worth considering.
Hannah and Keith were a pleasure to shoot all day long. From the very start of the day they were both so happy and relaxed. In the bridal suite, there was a hum of excitement as Hannah and her bridesmaids were busy getting ready. I got some beautiful photographs of that, as well as some lovely photographs of the bridal dress, shoes and accessories. Hannah had her hair and makeup done early which I always recommend as she was then ready for some lovely photographs to be taken before I went in search of her husband to be!
I met Keith and his groomsmen out clay pigeon shooting! It was lovely to see the Grooms Party relaxing and having fun. There were no nerves in sight and it’s a lovely idea to take some time in the morning to really get into the spirit of the day. It also allowed for some really different groomsmen photographs to be taken. Something different and special for Keith and his friends.
As the outdoor wedding ceremony drew near Hannah and Keith decided to do the “First Look”. This is where the Groom sees his Bride for the first time in her wedding dress, on their own, before the wedding ceremony. It was such an emotional moment for both Keith and Hannah and I got some fabulous photographs of them enjoying this very special time together in private.

They choose to have an outdoor wedding ceremony which is always a fantastic idea if you know that the Irish weather is on your side. If this is something that you would like to do it is really important to know that there is an indoor “Plan B” available to you if you should need it. Waterford Castle Resort has you covered in this regard but thankfully, Hannah and Keith did not need it and the sun shone for them as they exchanged their intimate wedding day vows in front of their families and friends.
This fantastic couple also chooses to incorporate the falconry of Waterford Castle Resort into their wedding ceremony. When it came time to exchange their rings, they called upon the resident birds of prey to do the honours! It was a lovely surprise for the wedding guests to see this magnificent falcon swoop in to greet Hannah and Keith, with the rings securely attached. It made for some really cool photographs and I overheard a number of the guests talking about how exciting it was after their lovely ceremony. What a cool idea!!!

This fantastic couple also chooses to do a “Confetti Shoot” after their wedding ceremony. The colourful confetti was passed out to their wedding guests who all stood to create an aisle for Hannah and Keith to walk through. Bursts of colour and laughter were launched into the air around them and again the photographs practically took themselves.
The happiness from Hannah and Keith was infectious and their wedding guests were smiling from ear to ear. It was so lovely to see
From the wonderful Bride and Groom, stunning castle venue and relaxed atmosphere, this was a truly magical wedding day all round. If you would like to find out more about the Waterford Castle Resort for your wedding day please log onto: https://www.waterfordcastleresort.com
