5 Reasons to have your Wedding in The Station House Hotel
Once a passenger train station, The Station House Hotel in Co. Meath is one of the most unique and special wedding venues I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. From its wonderful history to its gorgeous ceremony options, award-winning dining, and so much more, The Station House Hotel has it all. Located just 35 minutes from Dublin and set in the heart of the Boyne Valley, this wonderful hotel has a history, unlike any other wedding venue. A busy railway junction from 1862 to 1963, The Station House Hotel serviced passenger trains that ran between Dublin and the surrounding towns of Navan, Trim and Athboy.

Every Wedding Photographer Just Loves Station House Hotel
Although the last passenger train ran in 1947, the station was still functional and used to transport livestock and cargo into the mid-1960s. In 1981, the Station House was purchased by the Slattery family, and since then, they have built it to become the incredible, unique and loved wedding venue and hotel it is today.
Who owns the station house hotel? The family chose to preserve a lot of the original features and remains of the old station, which offers a step back in time throughout the hotel. The perfect countryside escape, this hotel wins the heart of everyone who visits, especially those who have chosen it as their perfect wedding venue.
If you’re recently engaged and planning your wedding, here are 5 reasons to have your wedding in The Station House Hotel Ireland, Co. Meath.
The Venue Choices
Recently refurbished, The Station House Hotel provides guests with so much choice when it comes to choosing their perfect wedding backdrop. Whether you desire to get married and celebrate inside or outside, the choice is endless and truly one of a kind.
A recent wedding I have done at this hotel was at sunset within the gorgeous, enchanting grounds. The atmosphere was complemented stunningly by the dreamiest sunset, which rounded off the entire ceremony perfectly but also allowed for truly magical wedding photographs.
If you’re thinking of getting married outside, I really recommend you check out the Turntable.
One of the most popular outdoor venues at The Station House Hotel, this unique, authentic stone Turntable is set amongst breath-taking forested gardens, and it really is a special spot to tie the knot. This unique venue is one of the most magical I’ve seen and it is perfect for your ceremony or even some pre-wedding drinks.
Station House Hotel Winter Wedding?
If you prefer to have your wedding indoors, you also have lots of options at this venue.
The 180 capacity Carriage Suite, which was originally the stations engine room is now a stunning function room that’s perfect for larger weddings. While some large function rooms can lack charm and character, this is not the case for the Carriage Suite.
Rich in history and so tastefully designed, it’s a wonderful function room that stands out from the rest. If you’re planning a smaller, more intimate experience, the award-winning Signal Restaurant ticks many boxes and is available to rent for weddings.
No matter which of the unique venues you choose, I can say one thing is for sure, you’ll be blown away by the incredible food.
The Food
Station house hotel, kilmessan menu. The Station House Hotel has won many awards for its dedication to amazing cuisine. Committed to using only the freshest ingredients, that are locally sourced, their dedicated chefs are recognised for their modern take on Irish dishes, their homemade breads, pastries and their delicious deserts. Whether you decide to have your wedding in the Carriage Suite, Signal Restaurant or outside within the grounds, the menu on the day will complement the time of the year and your magical wedding setting.
The Enchanting Grounds
Throughout its 13 acres, The Station House Hotel offers fairy tale feels around every corner. A wedding photographer’s dream, the manicured gardens give a wonderful nod to eras past and also provide an incredible backdrop for your photographs. While on the wilder side of things, the surrounding woodlands are another kind of magic entirely. Picture secluded forest weddings surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, birdsong and your loved ones – it is all possible at this wonderful venue. Like the wedding featuring in this post, sunsets within these 13 acres feel special and photograph just so. Enchanting is the word that I feel best describes the magic that lies within The Station House Hotel estate.
The Accommodations
We all love checking into hotels when attending a wedding right!? That first time you enter your room or suite is always exciting and the accommodation options at The Station House Hotel do not disappoint in this respect. They are truly unique. Possibly one of the coolest accommodation options in any hotel I’ve seen is the original two storey railway signal tower which has been converted into the Signal Suite. Originally used to divert trains towards either Kingscourt or Athboy, the Signal Suite is Ireland’s most unique bridal suite. This two-roomed accommodation stands alone and separates from the rest of the hotel making it incredibly private and personal. Not only that, it has been tastefully decorated as well.

Another amazing bridal suite option is the former Station Masters Quarters which has been transformed into the spacious Grand Suite. Located within the main hotel building and separated from all other rooms, this gorgeous suite is another favourite for couples to be. Of course, for your guests, they will also enjoy a really delightful stay in the hotels homely, warm guest rooms. All of which offer modern luxuries, Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathrobes and more. Yes, I wish I could check in right this second as well!
The Extra Mile
The Slattery family who own and run The Station House Hotel pride their business on going the extra mile for every bride, groom and guest. Their outstanding service experience is evident in every detail within the hotel and throughout every service encounter you will experience. Ensuring your wedding is memorable and goes beyond your expectations is what lies at the heart of their ethos. This client-centric approach, combined with their unique history, venue options, stunning grounds, and glorious dining, is the perfect recipe for a wedding beyond your wildest dreams.
