First-Ever wedding at Ballykealey House Barn!
A Rustic, Romantic Barn Wedding at Ballykealey House
Located in beautiful Co. Carlow and just a few minutes drive from Carlow Town, the 19th-century Ballykealey House sits nestled beneath the Blackstairs Mountains. This unique manor home wedding venue is gracious, personal and oh so elegant, making it a wonderful choice for those wanting a private, unique wedding day.
Combining modern touches with history, Ballykealey House and its team dedicate their time to ensuring your wedding day is as memorable as it can be. From a photographer’s perspective, this gorgeous manor home is a dream for capturing your most important moments and memories. While the interior of the house is truly breath-taking, it also sits within stunning mature parklands with many vantage points for amazing photographs.
In terms of wedding venue options at Ballykealey House, the Tudor style Oak Room is an incredible option. The finest room in the house, the Oak Room offers warmth and character and is perfect for those wanting to have a smaller, intimate wedding. With original features, solid oak carved wall panels and a wonderful ambience, it is also the perfect location for your wedding meal as well.
Ballykealey House – brand new, recently renovated Barn and Courtyard
Another venue, possibly my favourite in Ballykealey House is the brand new, recently renovated Barn and Courtyard. Opened just 18 months ago, this venue is perfect for those looking for a more rustic ambience for their wedding. With exposed stone walls, towering wooden beams and a charm that is amplified by plenty of natural light, it is one of the most beautiful venues I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a couple’s special day. And, not only is the interior of the barn really special, the adjoining courtyard is perfect for a post-ceremony drinks reception.
If you’re planning to also tie the knot at Ballykealey House rather than in a church or other external venue, the venue does offer civil ceremonies to take place in the Oak Room, Barn or within the stunning gardens.
Alongside its beautiful surroundings and its unique venue features, the dining at Ballykealey House also sets it apart. With locally sourced ingredients, the catering team is renowned for their beautifully designed menus and the thought and preparation that goes into every single meal they make. No doubt your guests will be in awe at the array and quality of the food on your big day!
To top off Ballykealey House is a fantastic wedding venue, they offer a selection of room types for you and your guests. The manor house itself is home to 12 stunning bedrooms, which offer gracious views of the surrounding countryside. Alongside the house then, there are 14 2-bedroom ensuite two-story self-catering lodges that can accommodate up to 5 people.
If my words have not convinced you how perfect Ballykealey House is for your wedding, check out my photos below from a recent wedding I had the pleasure of photographing in their brand-new Barn wedding venue.
