I cannot recommend the medieval Kilkea Castle in Co. Kildare enough for a truly magical, fairytale wedding.
Set amongst breathtaking grounds and dating back to 1180, Kilkea Castle is one of the oldest inhabited castles in Ireland, and one of the most incredible wedding venues I have ever seen.
Kilkea Castle – The Perfect Fairytale Wedding Venue
With just 140 rooms, 11 of which are located within the castle itself, it is also a really intimate and sophisticated wedding venue.
Really intimate and sophisticated wedding venue
Within its 180 acre grounds, you can explore woodlands, gardens and its famed golf course, all of which make the most spectacular backdrops for your wedding photos. Of course, the interior is just as majestic as its surrounding lands and is truly fit for royalty.
When you arrive at Kilkea Castle, you will make your way along a beech-lined avenue that overlooks the surrounding Killeshin Hills, before being hypnotized by the timeless castle before your eyes. Fit for a king and queen, Kilkea Castle offers a range of wedding venues to choose from to suit every couple.
Having been present at weddings in the Castle, The Baronial Hall and Hermione’s Restaurant, I can give you my word that all offer unique versions of a fairytale wedding and no doubt one of these venues will be the venue of your dreams.
Kilkea Castle is a short one hour’s drive from Dublin and a world away from any wedding venue you will have ever experienced before.
I love when my couples advise me that their wedding will be in Kilkea Castle!
From here, I will let my real wedding photos show you why I hold such a place in my heart for Kilkea Castle. It truly is a magical place to get married and having it and its grounds as the backdrop to your treasured wedding memories will create the most beautiful photos you have ever seen.
